You might remember this post from 9/21/05. Well Jon has done me right! Bon Jovi swung through the Bay Area on Monday. I like to think of it as getting in touch with my inner Jersey Girl.
Lisa, Katie and I made the trek (ok, slightly dramatic--it wasn't that far) to San Jose to see Jon and friends wow us. And wow us they did! I swear Jon gets better with age! He did give a shout out to those from the Garden State and I did my best to support my misunderstood people.
All types of people were at the concert. We're hoping some were intentionally trying to channel the 80s, because if this is what they normally wear, they need some help. A couple of rows behind us were these girls who couldn't even have been born when "Runaway" hit the airwaves. I don't know if this makes them illegitimate fans or me old.
But the concert was incredible! They did a nice mix of old and new and even some songs I'm embarrassed to say I didn't recognize. I really like their new music and was pleased to see a nice Buddhist undertone throughout many of the new ones. Twice, he popped up to sing from within the crowd. He started the concert in the back of the floor section, quite close to us up in the nose bleed section. Then for Bed of Roses, he popped up in the middle of a section in the lower level. That's my boy--a man of the people! Now what I would have given for those seats! I think that Sharks season ticket holders might get first dibs on concert tix at HP. I happen to have a friend who I think has season tix, perhaps we will have to arrange something the next time a good group comes to town ;-)
Here are some more pics from the event. I also shot some video on my camera, but I can't figure out how to upload that. The concert was great, and I'm proud to call myself an original Bon Jovi fan! Coo!
