I saw a very interesting movie last night: The Fall. It is the story of a young girl and a man who meet while recovering in a Los Angeles hospital in the 1920s.
The man begins telling the little girl a story that enraptures her. The story, which we watch acted out in the movie, at times follows his own life but eventually starts to serve other purposes. The story
is interesting, especially if your dad used to tell you bedtime stories (that he made up on the fly) about you and your brother and your dog, who always saved the day! Anyhow, I digress. The story is interesting and the little girl is just an amazing actress for only being 5 years old. I have to think some of it was ad libbed in order to get the reactions out of her that they did. The main actor was also excellent and it wasn't until I got home that I placed him (Lee Pace, Pushing Daisies).
But what I really found amazing was the cinematography (check out the gallery on the film's website--but only if you aren't going to see the movie so you don't spoil seeing it on the big screen). The filmmakers shot the film in 15 different countries or something and the locations are just spectacular. Scouting out the shooting locations would have been a job I would have loved! I actually think I am a better photographer having seen this movie. The angles, perspectives and colors are really breathtaking. And in an effort to replicate the Great Michael Judge, here is a haiku:
Amazing acting
Breathtaking photography
Ten dollars well spent
