Hi Everyone,
This is a public service announcement and a way to try and keep from panicking. I urge you to backup all your important documents and pictures to an external hard drive or CD/DVD. I think my desktop computer just bit the dust. Again, trying not to panic. I haven't called Dell yet, and that worries me under the best of circumstances. All of a sudden it froze last night and I kept getting error messages when I rebooted. I went to sleep and tried again this morning. I was able to boot it up for about 8 minutes which was just enough time to get what was most out-dated in my backing up--my Quicken file and Memsoft. Phew. I then crashed again and who knows what the problem is. I see an afternoon of Dell Tech Support on my agenda for today.
But I urge you to back up. Make sure you load your digital pictures to some other photo service (Kodak Gallery or Shutterfly etc) or burn them on DVDs. I'll admit that I haven't backed-up to my external drive since August, but at least I have jpgs of my photos on my website. Losing a few RAW files won't be the worst thing in the world.
So backup and then wish me luck with Dell tech support. Anyone ever used Geek Squad? They'll be my second call...
And the timing sure is interesting with MacWorld next week and all.

Yikes - good luck! I'm so crazy about backing up that I burn two copies. I keep one copy at home and another copy away from home. I'm scared of losing my copies in a fire!! Wacko, I know. :-)

Just ordered a new computer last night. My C drive was full! Guess all those digi scrappin' freebies are getting the best of me! I will finish backing up my photos before I swap machines. I've got a little person or two here that can barely wait for their "own computer".
