Chris and I spent part of this Labor Day Weekend scrapbooking with Scraptacular Getaways. We were long-time customers of Gotta Crop, but they went out of business. So we were very excited when we heard about this new company through Dina. Especially since despite my studio area, I apparently don't scrapbook at home. But we are now both big fans of this new company! The owner and chief party person, Ginamarie, is fantastic! She is warm, caring, and makes you feel special while at the same time putting on a party weekend! This was the first crop in awhile that we weren't meeting up with Dina, Angela and Diana. While we were bummed they couldn't make it, they did come by Friday night for drinks which was fun. We are all definitely going in February, so we'll have a fun time then for sure.
I can't say it was the most productive of my scrapbooking outings. It had been such a busy two months at work leading up to this weekend (I had a huge deadline on Friday) that I was completely unorganized for the weekend. Not only that, but I never got the photos I ordered from Kodak Gallery. I was very disappointed with that since I had ordered them more than a week in advance. In fact, I still haven't gotten them! Anyhow, I needed time to decompress, so I didn't really get cropping until Saturday afternoon (or perhaps this was impacted by the two cocktails I enjoyed with Dina, Angela and Diana). Once I got going though, I was pretty productive which was good. Although I feel bad, because my lack of focus probably slowed Chris down as well. But by the end of the weekend, I had decompressed and managed to get some pages done.

Operation Alex:
The last layout, "Operation Alex" is probably my favorite. These are pictures of my friends Rachel and Bill and their little baby Alex just a few days after he was born. You might remember this post in May thanking the Red Cross for bringing Bill home from Iraq for Alex's birth. These pictures are the ones I took when little Alex was just 4 days old. I got teared up just doing the journaling remembering how I felt when I heard Bill's voice on the phone when he called to say Alex had been born and that both he and Rachel were doing well. Thanks again, Red Cross! And speaking of Rachel, HAPPY BIRTHDAY (a day late)!

Wasn't that a fun weekend??? And please don't think that your "lack of focus" slowed me down--that was all my own doing! Anyway, the whole point of the weekend was to crop (of course!) but also to relax, laugh, eat and decompress which I'm glad you were able to do. Can't wait until our repeat in Feb! P.S. Remember how you were saying how much Jasmine font was a pain in the ass?? Well, I must say that the font looks perfect on the PR page!
